China All set to Re-open the Lottery market after the Extended Shutdown Period

Coronavirus has indeed wreaked havoc in China and the Asian countries. Not only has it harmed the patients, but it has affected the country’s overall economy and growth. Fortunately, the lottery business in China is all set to restart after a quick shutdown to avoid the spread of the fatal disease.

Chinese Government had declared the suspension of the lottery services in the country for a brief period beginning from 22nd January. It was expected to reopen on the 1st of February. Before the recommencement date, the Chinese government had to extend the suspension period for another 10 days to prevent citizens from gathering at the lottery ticket office in large numbers.

Though the extended suspension period was assumed to be lifted on the 10th of February, the Ministry of Finance has not reacted to the lottery business recommencement. Ever since then, the lottery tickets are on pause. Fortunately, this shutdown period is all set to be lifted, suggests the reports from provincial lottery administration.

This Wednesday, the Chinese government’s official lottery website celebrated the efforts and hard work of the lottery administrators to fight Coronavirus and stop its further spread in the country by handing over masks to all the citizens. There was also a message stating that the paper lottery industry will re-start on Thursday.

The official website updated the message given by the lottery retailer who said that he had been constantly trying to sterilize his store to get all set for the re-opening of the lottery market. He also added that people buying the lottery tickets would need to provide personal information such as their names, identity, the place they come from, mode of travelling, and their physical condition. The shops have embraced the temperature detectors that will check the temperature of each customer within the store.

After four years of constant growth in the lottery market in China, the country has witnessed a major decline in the sector in 2019. The lottery tickets sale came down to 17.9% in the past year. The extended shutdown has affected the lottery market negatively. But, there is still room for improvement for the industry.

Sports lottery ticket vendors expected significant growth in summer because of the UEFA European Championship. However, with Coronavirus spreading at a speedy rate in the European nations, the tournament can be postponed.
